JAXXON x Ryan Sheckler: Inside the Backwoods Invitational

2026-08-24
This past Friday, August 21st, JAXXON hit the greens at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo, California for the Ryan Sheckler Golf Tournament: The Backwoods Invitational. Ryan Sheckler, a professional skateboarder turned philanthropist, has spent nearly two decades building a foundation dedicated to giving back, and this tournament is one of its cornerstone events each year. Inspired by the feeling of gathering around a campfire after a day outdoors, the event brought together 150 players for a day of golf, hospitality, and philanthropy, all in support of the Sheckler Foundation's Be the Change program.

A Tournament With a Purpose

Hosted by Ryan Sheckler, the day kicked off with a gifting suite before a shotgun start sent foursomes out across the course, where golfers found games and prizes waiting at every hole. Lunch, refreshments, and entertainment carried the energy between holes, and the day wrapped with a 200-foot helicopter ball drop, cocktails, appetizers, and awards.
Set along Trabuco Creek at The Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo, Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club (designed by PGA Tour pro Tom Lehman alongside architect Casey O'Callaghan) provided the backdrop for a day built around camaraderie, competition, and purpose.
Since launching Be the Change in 2012, the Sheckler Foundation has given supporters a direct hand in its giving: the program invites people to nominate a cause where they want to see change in the lives of children and injured action sports athletes, with winners receiving a $10,000 grant to help bring their plans to life. It's one piece of a larger mission: founded in 2008, the Sheckler Foundation uses the transformative power of skateboarding to enrich the lives of foster youth and adaptive youth, and to build confidence, community, and philanthropy in the next generation.
On the course, teams competed for top honors, with golfers including Luke Rockhold, CJ Barham, Cordano Russell, Bear, and Pepe Garcia rounding out some of the day's teams.

JAXXON on the Green

JAXXON was on-site with a booth built around the day's campout theme, featuring our chains alongside custom golf towels made for the occasion. To keep the competitive spirit going, we put together giveaways for the top three teams: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners each walked away with a Cuban Link 8mm chain and a pair of Santos Studio sunglasses, 12 winners in total.
There was also a raffle giveaway featuring a JAXXON watch and chain, giving even more players a chance to bring home something special from the day.
JAXXON is proud to stand behind Ryan Sheckler and the Be the Change program, and we're already looking forward to next year's tournament.
